Synthetic Comfort

Ayesha Bashir, (she/her) is an interdisciplinary artist from Karachi, Pakistan. Her practice is driven by sea/horses, fresh fruit, and the New York School of Poetry. She is currently a Film Programming intern at MUBI.

Artist Statement: For the past year or so, I had been writing persona poems in search of exploring identities that I will never want/get to occupy. This poem personifies the idea of Americana from a distance as it explores the dilemmas of coexisting in a landscape that isn’t yours.
